Do you have trouble ticking off your To-Do List every day?
I’ve to admit, I find To-Do lists oddly satisfying. Ticking off a task gives me the feeling of getting things done. It makes visible for me, what I’ve achieved during the day. However, I had times, when I really struggled to get through my list, but I was busy the whole day. I had to push a lot of unfinished tasks into the next day and this made my next-day-list even longer. The system of pushing tasks into the next day worked well for quite a while, until I had created a backlog with a list that was so long, that I could not get through it in one day any more. I decided it was time to declutter my time management and the way I created my To-Do-lists.
???? ???? So what was the solution to my problem?
I discovered a great book! “Do It Tomorrow” by Mark Forster gave me the solutions I was looking for. Here are a couple of his pointers:
⭐️ Call it a Will-Do-List, it sets the energy that you’ll really get things done
⭐️ Write your list the day before at the end of each day
⭐️ Draw a line underneath your list, it’s called a closed list
⭐️ The next day, only add urgent tasks to your current list, that need to be addressed the same day
⭐️ Write those task underneath the line – all of them! That’ll show what you did the whole day and why you did not finish of the original list
⭐️ Put new tasks, that aren’t urgent, onto the next-day-Will-Do list or schedule them when they need to be addressed
Pretty easy! ???? And there is more in the book! It’s worth a read!
